3 October 2001 – A’anside Studios, the stained glass
studio and furniture makers located in Tomintoul, the highest village in the
Highlands, announce the opening of their new workshop and gallery.
The
development, which started with the demolition of their existing workshop and
shop in early January, consists of a gallery area and new stained glass workshop
covering some 200 square metres. The gallery, with its vaulted ceiling and
feature stained glass window entitled “Transpiration”, is displaying, until
Christmas 2001, the original work of several artists and craftsmen from
throughout Scotland with particular emphasis on those working in Moray and
Aberdeenshire. The workshop, integral with the gallery and gallery shop, has an
interpretive display on stained glass design and construction and allows
visitors to view the daily work of the studio.
Demonstrations
by visiting craftsmen are a feature of the gallery and masterclasses in
watercolour painting, carving and weaving will be made available during the
coming months.
The
construction of the workshop and gallery was undertaken with assistance from
Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise
